If you want to teach anyone under the age of 18 on bemore, we require you to be registered on the DBS Update Service. This allows us to automatically check your record, so we know if and when your status changes.
Procedure jor Joining the DBS Update Service
Registering for the DBS Update Service is a two-step process:
- Get an Enhanced DBS Check
- Join the DBS Update Service within 28 days of receiving your DBS Certificate
Important: after receiving your DBS Certificate you have only 28 days to register for the update service.
Registering before you receive your Enhanced DBS Certificate
You do not need to wait for the actual DBS Certificate to be issued. As soon as you have an application reference number(the ‘form ref’ on your application form), you can register for the update service.
To be on the DBS Update Service costs £13 per year.
Benefits of the Update Service
Once you’ve registered, you can use the update service to:
- add or remove a certificate
- give employers permission to check if anything’s changed on your certificate
- see who’s checked if anything’s changed on your certificate
- view your details
Your Subscription to the Update Service
A subscription to the update service lasts for one year. You can renew your subscription through the update service up to 30 days before your current subscription ends. However, you can’t renew on the last day of your subscription.
Signing In to Your Account
Sign in to your account to renew your subscription.
If you don’t renew your subscription before it ends, you’ll need to apply for a new DBS check and register for the update service again.
