The way the bemOre system works, first you create a Teacher Profile, then you can add as many individual lessons as you like. Depending on what and how you teach, you can be as granular as you like.
A private lesson is typically one subject that you teach with a one particular audience. You can choose to be as granular as you like. You may choose to offer a general Guitar lesson with an audience of Intermediate and Advanced students. Or you may choose to split them out into 'Intermediate Guitar' and 'Advanced Guitar'. Fo each you may choose to have different availability, class lengths, prices, locations etc.
The goal of our system is to be flexible enough so you can tailor the system to suit your own business model, without being unnecessarily complicated.
Add the Lesson
Note that unless you add a private lesson, you will not be found in the search results so this is an essential step for all teachers who are looking to take bookings.
Add the Lesson Details
Choose a name for your lesson, select a category, a length, age group, difficulty and student gender.
Note that if you want to teach Under 18s, we will require you to have submitted a valid (Enhanced) DBS certificate, and to be registered on the DBS Update Service.
The lesson description is currently a text only box, although this will get more sophisticated soon. This is your opportunity to sell the lesson, and in particular why you. Some of this content may be the same as what you have in the Bio box on your Teacher Profile, and that is fine.
Customise The Lesson Icon and Cover Photo
These options are optional and you are free to edit them whenever you like. The icon is the image that will appear alongside the lesson in the search results, and this must be a square image for now.
We will make the image uploader more sophisticated as soon as we can. In the meantime, if you need to crop an image or tweak it, we suggest using a free online image editing tool such as Pixlr, Lunapic or BeFunky.
The Cover Photo is an image you can use as the header on your Lesson Page. The idea is to share some of your personality and what you are offering. Here is an example from a yoga lesson.
(The ideal dimensions for this image are 1400x900 pixels. Although you can add any size image and it will be adjusted as best we can.)
Choose Where You Want to Teach This Lesson
You have three options. You can select one, two or three of these. They are online, at your venue (your home or elsewhere) and at the student's venue (probably their home).
Tick the box to select which of these options you'd like, and for each one you can set a different price. Note the length of the lesson will not change - you already specified this above.
If you're teaching online, you only need to set the price.
Travel to Student's Address
If you're willing to travel to the student's venue, as well as setting a price, you also need to specify how far you are willing to travel and from what location. By default this will be your home address but you can also change this.
Teaching at Your Address
The third and final option is to offer lessons at your home address or venue. You can specify whether this is your actual home address or somewhere else. We make no stipulation on where this can be. It could be a local coffee shop or even a park - it's completely up to you!
Specify When You Are Available to Teach
Click on the plus icon for the day that you have availability. Specify a start time and an end time for your availability. You can also specify which of your modalities you are up for in that slot. For example, if you have a short slot, you could teach online and at your venue, but you may not be willing to travel to a student's venue.
You can customise these options for each day that you have availability.
If you have specific slots for a given day. E.g. 4pm-6pm, 6pm-8pm and 8pm-10pm, you can add these individually. This means that when somebody books a lesson with you, they will have to fit within one of your specified slots. Here's a video explainer...
